Prep For Painting 24

This entry is several days of work on the car. About 3.5 days worth. I had vacation time at work. I took 2 days, and my Boss was nice enough to make it a three day weekend so I can get some paint on, Er, Rather paint "in" the car. Before any paint, I had to prep for the prep so to speak. Trim some trees so there is more sun light on the booth. I also had to clean out the booth, and then, clean out the car's floor and trunk, and the space inbetween for painting.

All went well... I was hoping to get the roof painted, but, that is for another day. I have to mix another batch of paint. I will be getting the paint sometime during the week, and mixing a batch. I also have to mask the rest of the car, sand, and then mask the doors so no overspray get's in. But, for these last few days it's been busy. Maybe I can beet the cold and get the outside of the car painted. Only time will tell..... Here's whats going on. Until next time. Chow!.

Tree trimming time. Trim them trees for more solar heat on the booth. More sun light shining down on the black roof produces heat.

Clean up the booth. Sweep, get rid of some old stuff not needed. Cardboard and the like. Get the dirt and dust out as much as possible.

Clean up the inside of the car. Work dust from this year and last year must go.

Now, we start to mask. A lot of masking but it will be worth it.

Mask the new painted dash. (Still needs some paint work). That will be in another video.

Masking the door jambs. No paint past these. Thats one reason why the car is facing the other way. Overspray goes out the fan exhaust.

Let's paint. Using the detail gun in hard to get places. Less chance of runs this way instead of the bigger gun.

Comment:
Oh yea!. Lookin' good. I still will have to go over some places. Espically on the 1/4's.

The inside floor, the spare tire space. Looks good so far.

Prep For Painting 25

It's been cold, windy, and rain, and cloudy for the past week and a few days. Can't do any painting. But, I did decide to re paint the dash and the tops and bottoms of the doors, and the wheel wells. They will look better because each time you sand the paint, and apply new paint, it's smoother. I was not happy with the dash. It was "Allright", and, I want better. So, we re do the dash espically. The floor will stay it's protection.

Because of the weather, this is my chance to build a water trap for the compressor. I did, and so far testing it works good. The real test will be when I do some more painting. For the last week or so, weather bad... I will test again on the center part of the doors. This area is covered by the pannel. If all is good. I will do the wheel wells, and all. Even the jambs as these need more. Remember, all the paint to this point is edging, and is ments to be sanded and re coated. Hopefully, this month at last this can get done. Here's some pictures.

Sanding the dash. 220 dry, then 2000 wet. Makes for a smooth surface. Should be more like a mirror.
