I almost forgot these. The original 1962 hub caps. I buffed them up, re painted the black masking. They look great. Here's pictures and a video on these.

Comment:
After buffing the stainless steel. It's time to re paint the black masking on all of the caps. This took some time, but looks great.

Comment:
2 were damaged around the outer rim. Looks like they were stepped on. Most likely by the mechanic back then. They like to use them as a lug nut tray. Not with these they don't.

Comment:
Can't get under the creased rim. There is no way to get under there to press out the dents. I can go only so far.

Comment:
Thats the best I can do. If you look close, the bright white spots are the clouds in the sky...

Moving right along. The top is almost ready. The trunk lid is next. But inbetween, handles and a few trim goes back on. Later on in the week hopefully, I'll start the sides. Hope all goes well with the trunk lid....

Comment:
The first handel on. Had some trouble with the plunger. Kept getting stuck with the finger push stuck in. Not on all, but 2. A washer behind the lever did the trick. Don't know why. But that worked.

Comment:
Finishing up the fin top. After that we put the rest of the handels on and a few pieces of trim. The trunk lid, will have to be done another day.

Here we are in August. Still early, but closing fast... But, we are making great progress. My goal is to get the car done, at least to driving status by the winter. I still have replacement to do even after she is back on the road. New tires and new exhaust pipes. I will also try to get video of those. I have to farm them out though... I don't have a lift, and you really need that for that kind of work....

Anyway, back to the at hand video... LOL... After the paint has cured, we are in the process of imaging the paint, and also as we go, with breaks in between the sanding, putting stuff back on the car. So, here's whats been going on.

Comment:
More sanding for the imaging. 1500, then 2000 then 3000 then compound, and the polish. First coat, then we finalize with 3 to 4 coats, then maybe, wax. Not sure yet.

Comment:
The fender is next. I am doing the rear first, then the front. In between we put trim and stuff back on in the rear and the front. The doors will be done last.

Comment:
ho, ho, oh!.. Looking good... Looking good..... The rear trim and the tail lights... The rocket jets... LOL....

Comment:
The center of the lights are the back up lights. Neet huh?. I will be changing out the single master cylinder to a dual later on in the life. Reason: Safer.

This marks a mile stone!. The rear and front get's back on. Yup. All. Stone reflector, Grille, headlight covers, bumper... Front and back. Real headway . Hopefully, there will be no snags. The car is looking good. better than I thought I would do. I must admit... Still looking for completion this summer-fall. Hope all keeps going well...

Making sure we get the rear bumper mounts on right. Then, the bumper. The bumper bolts are the originals.

Comment:
Bumper on, and we are working on the license plate light holder too. Looks nice even though the bumper is not perfect.

Comment:
The quarter dashes are ready to go back on. Both sides, and looking good. Had no trouble with the holes lining up. Remember I used the old 1/4's for a templet.

Comment:
Re Installing the stone reflector. This also held in the two fender mounts, and bolted to the front wall, and the radiator house. It's not just to deflect stones.

Bigger Pic?. Click it.

Comment:
The trim brow (eyebrow) must go on first, as the nuts for the first on is accessed through a access plate on each fender. Then the grill...

Bigger Pic?. Click it.

Comment:
After re installing the brow, grill, headlight covers it's now time for the bumper. There are large, real large plastic washers. Like 3 inch. These are squeak supressors. They do need to go back on. They are inbetween the underside of the bumper and the bumper mount. Thats those funny looking bent things sticking out of the front.
